Below is a picture of John from 2004 as during his solo canoe trip from the most western part of Ontario (Caribou Falls)
up the English River system to Ear Falls. This is an ancient fur trader route (about 500 miles north of Lake Superior). From Ear Falls, he canoed Lac Soeul to Souix Lookout. This trip is part of his upcoming book entitled "Voyageaur Nouveau"
